A mostly dry morning Saturday across Central Florida could bring earlier than normal showers for some areas amid a wind pattern from the east for another day, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
Chances across the region are at 40%, but showers if any would move from offshore westward and over the coast beginning in the early morning.
“As usual a few stronger storms capable of occasional to frequent cloud to ground lightning, gusty winds to 45 mph, and locally heavy rainfall will be possible,” the NWS stated in its forecast. There is a small chance for multiple boundary collisions to cause storm motion to become briefly slow/erratic, which could lead to minor flooding or urban, low- lying, or poor drainage areas.”
Temperatures are expected to reach the high 80s or low 90s although slightly drier conditions could mean a few spots north of I-4 could reach peak heat index values of up to 104, the NWS stated.
A southern push of moisture by Sunday should kick out the drier air and increase rain chances.
“Temperatures drop a couple degrees thanks to increased cloud coverage, but won`t really be noticeably due to the higher humidity,” forecasters said. “Afternoon highs remains in the U80s-L90s, and while a few inland spots will get to enjoy the U80s instead of just the coast, peak afternoon heat indices remain around 100 with a few spots north of I-4 reaching up to 104.”
