Tropical Storm Sara formed off the coast of Central America on Thursday and is expected to move slowly along the coast, over Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula and into the Gulf of Mexico. Although it’s too early to forecast the intensity and track beyond a few days, some forecast models show the potential for Sara to be pushed back to the northeast toward Florida sometime during the middle of next week.
The National Hurricane Center advised residents of Florida, the Keys and elsewhere along the U.S. Gulf coast to regularly check the status of the storm.

Spaghetti models, an ensemble of the tracks predicted by the various storm forecasting models, show the potential turn back toward Florida. However, forecasters warned that many factors will influence the evolution of the potential tropical storm, including interaction with land over Central America and Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
