Wednesday starts warm and windy before showers and storms become active in Central Florida.

Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected to begin around 11 a.m., according to NWS Melbourne.

The showers are expected to hit Lake and Volusia counties early on before sweeping southeast.

Risks for isolated severe storms exist north of a line from Lake Kissimmee to Melbourne.

Wind gusts up to 60 mph, lightning strikes, hail, and a brief tornado are the primary threats during the storm.

The storm is forecast to weaken as it presses toward Okeechobee and Treasure Coast counties in the later afternoon.

There is a gale warning for winds at 20-30 knots and gusts up to 40 knots with seas at six to eight feet.

A small craft advisory is in place for winds at 20-25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots with seas at five to eight feet, according to NWS Melbourne.

Swimmers are advised to stay away from beaches since there is a high risk of rip currents.

Lastly, a wind advisory begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m., according to NWS Melbourne.

Winds will blow south to southwest at 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts up to 40 mph.
